Writing Assignment 7-City Life-It Can be Enjoyed, Not Just Endured.
Date: 2006/6/1
Grade: 90
I have been in living in the city since I was born, but I'm not quite knowledgeable about how to enjoy city life. Sometime there are many problems which we couldn't endure. Sometimes there are many challenges which we have to overcome with patience and wisdom.”Take a moment to relax before you do anything rash.” is one thought for me to enjoy in the city. To me, there are several ways which relax me in city life-climbing mountains, reading extensively at Eslite Bookstore, seeing the second -run movie and attending a concert with friends. It is very important that you never let the system get you down in the city. We should say hello or smile to everyone before others, no matter what we have. Then, the city will become more lovely and more funny so that city life for us can be enjoyed, not just endured.
Writing Assignment 6-My Reaction to the Video: Cinderella
Date:2006/5/18
Grade: 90
The video of Cinderella, played in last Thursday's class, is simply beautiful and sweet. The Disney cartoon version of Cinderella which I never liked when I was a child, always seemed too ”easy.” But this is much more in-depth. All the characters have the strong and diverse personalities. But the strangest and funniest issue is about the cast's arrangement, such as an African-American Cinderella, an Asian Prince, an evil white stepmother, a white King, an African-American Queen and different colors of stepsisters. The multi-ethnic cast's arranged to break the audience's stereotype, but the movie still is very well performed and enjoyable. Another interesting issue is music. I watched the video, singing along with the songs with cast members. My particular favorites are the Cinderella and Chris duets: “The dearest love” and “Do I love you; because you're beautiful?” Another song is “Impossible” by Whitney Houston. Some of the lyrics are “Impossible. No one can stop you but you. It's possible. Impossible things happen every day....” I think that's a good encouragement song for people. For most of the songs are easy to sing with easy English and sweet melodies. My goal is to teach these songs to the church's children. I am hoping they also have a great time with this video.
Writing Assignment 5-My Idea Job
Date:2006/5/4
Grade: 94
Ever since I was a child, I remember always being fascinated with high-heel shoes and suit dresses like an office lady, and my idea job was to be a professional manager. After I grew up, I worked very hard to succeed. Finally, I did. I really was a public relation manager of a business company. But I wasn't happy at that time. A growing sense of dissatisfaction with m work made me keep asking, “Why I am here?” and “What would I really love to do for a job?” I started to search for my gifts and God's plan. To know my gifts, I must pray everyday. Last year, I visited Bangladesh with my church's short-term mission team. The kids, standing in front of me, had an innocent face but without education. I really enjoyed being with them but sorrowed for them and kept asking, “What could I do for them?” Now, I find my gift is ease in working with children and liking to be a story teller. So, my ideal new job is to be social worker or a teacher for children and now I am studying English in NTUST to increase my language skill to add to m professionalism for my future job. I will meet the Bangladesh children again and tell Jesus stories to them some day.
Writing Assignment 4-How to Have a Happy Marriage
Date: 2006/4/20
Grade: 93
To have a happy marriage without God's discipline is difficult. I always got hurt by dating with the opposite sex in the past fifteen years. The broken relationship took me a long time to recover from Therefore, I was afraid of dating with a man again and didn't want a marriage with someone. After the Bible's teaching, I better understand the difference between the sexes and have more hope about marriage. In the biblical account of creation, God's expressed desire is that the two “will become one flesh.” At the heart of marriage is the idea of unity. The pastor told me, “Marriage is not simply a relationship, it is an intimate relationship that encompasses all aspects of life-intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual and physical.” I also like the scripture from Ecclesiates, “Two are better than one....If one falls down, his friend can help him up.” The best way to have a happy marriage is for the couple to obey God's rules and help each other discover their unique gifts and encourage each other to use their abilities to serve God. Praying for my future marriage is an important task for me and I will accept any training from God to be a good wife.
Writing Assignment 3-The Most Important Thing in My Life
Date:2006/4/6
Grade: 88
For me, the most important thing in my life is neither money nor reputation. Instead of them, it is m relationship with Christ. In my life, I want to overcome all of the trials that will try to hinder my chance of surviving in tis fast-paced world. But I know that I am not a super woman and I can't overcome those things on my own. Jesus Christ, whose name is in the most popular book in the world-the Bible, has the most power the world. He knows who I am, what I do, where I go, when I go, why I cry....that I always ask help from Him. I will strive to live my life under the virtues of God, and I will fulfil my purpose of doing what God placed me here to do: loving people, enlightening others and overcoming all the tribulation or difficulty in my life.
Writing Assignment 2-The Key to Success: Hard Work or Luck?
Date:2006/3/23
Grade: 88
I think hard work is more important to success than luck. My personal story can prove the truth. A few years ago, I attended an entrance examination for the EMBA program of Ming-Chuan University. After I pass the first test, I had to attend the second test-an interview. None my family knew that i had a plan to go t school again. Before the interview day, my mother told me, she took my picture to a fortune-teller and the fortune-teller said i would get a master's degree. I was so happy that I thought I would pass the entrance examination for the EMBA program by luck. So I didn't spend much time to prepare for the interview. Unfortunately, I was only on the waiting list for admission to the school in the end. When I learned this life lesson, I didn't believe in fortune-tellers and luck anymore. I realized that if we want to succeed, we should work hard and no hoped to a vain hope.
